Project Lead – Sierra Leone

Global Schoolroom is a teacher education initiative established in 2006 by two Irish teachers, which has since then brought over 1000 Indian teachers together with more than 200 of their Irish counterparts to share their educational experience, expertise and good practice. Since 2008, Global Schoolroom has facilitated a UCD Collaborative programme with approximately 600 Indian teachers progressing to a Level 7 award.

With a ten-year track record in India, Global Schoolroom is now entering into an exciting new stage in its mission to eradicate poverty, promote economic development and build sustainable communities through the provision of quality education.

In a response to the Sustainable Development Goals, Global Schoolroom has been invited to deliver a teacher education programme for primary and secondary teachers in Sierra Leone, partnering with an international and locally established religious order. This initiative follows completion of a successful short investigative programme in mid 2016.

Global Schoolroom now seeks to engage the services of a qualified, experienced, resourceful and creative volunteer teacher to take on the role of Project Lead for a Pre-Pilot Teacher Education Programme, in Sierra Leone. The available position will be for three months, working part-time and will commence in December 2016.
